notice
What is said in the room stays in the room. The same care applies to what you share with us before you arrive. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask of us.
- I.
Who we are.
The Eleventh is an intellectual salon in London, run by The Eleventh Salon Ltd. For the purposes of UK data protection law, The Eleventh Salon Ltd is the controller of your personal information.
For anything about your data, write to [email protected].
- II.
What we collect.
When you apply, we collect what you write in the form:
- your name, age and email address;
- your Instagram or LinkedIn, if you choose to give it;
- where you are from and where home is now;
- who nominated you, or how you heard of us;
- your answers to our three questions;
- the salon you would like to attend, and the time you applied.
If you write to us, we keep that correspondence. If you are invited, we also keep a record of which salons you attended.
- III.
What you choose to share.
Our questions are open, and some people answer them with their beliefs, their health, their background or their politics. You never need to. If you do, we use it only to read your application, and we keep it as carefully as the rest.
- IV.
Why we use it.
We use your information to read your application, decide whether and when to invite you, and write to you about salons: your invitation, the address, the reading list and the cost.
We rely on your consent, which you give when you tick the box before sending your application. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us, and we will delete your application.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means. Every application is read by a person.
- V.
Who else sees it.
No one outside The Eleventh reads your application. We do use two services to run the website and keep our records:
- Google (Google Workspace), where applications and emails are stored;
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website.
These providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are bound by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US Data Bridge or the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum.
We will share information with others only if the law requires it.
- VI.
How long we keep it.
If you are not invited, we keep your application for 12 months, in case a salon later suits you, and then delete it.
If you become a habitué, we keep your details while you continue to attend, and delete them 12 months after your last salon, or sooner if you ask.
- VII.
Your rights.
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can also object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent.
Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would be grateful for the chance to put it right first.
- VIII.
This website.
This website uses no cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site secure and running.
- IX.
Age.
The Eleventh is for those aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
- X.
Changes.
If we change how we use your information, we will update this notice. If the change is significant, we will tell you by email.
